If your pet has transitioned at home, Peaceful Bridge will pick up your beloved pet, confirm they have passed, and provide transport to the crematory if you prefer to have their remains cremated. A paw-print will be provided if you choose. This after-life care is provided for $250, cremation is additional.

What To Do if Your Dog Dies at Home?

Use a location where your pet is most comfortable, indoors or out. If your pet is very large, a comfortable area on a lower level of the home is preferred to help ease transport out of the home.

Every family is different. A general guideline is about 20 minutes for the procedure plus additional time to spend with your pet.​

The procedure itself is painless. Some pets can react to the needle poke from the sedative injection. If you think your pet is more reactive, your veterinarian can prescribe a sedative that can be given orally 2 hours prior to the appointment to reduce the likelihood of this response. Please call your veterinary hospital for this prescription medication several days prior to your appointment.

Home burial has been a common option for a pet’s remains. Local municipalities may have regulations regarding this practice, however. It is best to call your township to determine if there are regulations in place where you live.
